Mary Burwash entered the Methodist National Training School in 1911. She must have been a widow, as only single women or widows were admitted to the school and certainly to the Deaconess Order.

MRS. MARY BURWASH died in Toronto, January 28, 1956. Following her graduation from the Methodist Deaconess Training School in 1913, Mrs Burwash joined the Deaconess Order and served King Street Church and later in Queen Street Church, Toronto. Her next appointment was as Superintendent of Barbara House, where she served until her retirement in1935. For some years she had been a member of Grace United Church, Toronto, where a memorial service was conducted by her pastor.
